The website Syfy caught up with Dakota to talk about her latest project gen:LOCK, in which she voices the character Miranda Worth. You can read the interview below.
When you first got involved, what did you think of this huge story?
When I first met with [Rooster Teeth] they told me where the story was going and that a lot of the bigger themes were about human emotion and the relationships between the characters. Especially my character Miranda and for Michael’s character, Chase, and their relationship. I really responded to all of that.
This futuristic, post-apocalyptic world that they have created is really big, and the animation itself looks very cool. I loved all of that, but I also just loved the relationships between the characters and that all the characters are so interesting and specific. I also liked that even though it is animated, they really wanted the acting in the voices to sound as if we were doing live action.

Well, the confirmation is here! After Dakota was sighted on the set of the movie Sweetness In The Belly in Dublin, Ireland (you can view the pictures here), news sources have confirmed she is indeed starring in it. Variety wrote:
Dakota Fanning is starring in the immigrant drama “Sweetness in the Belly,” which has begun shooting in Ireland and will continue in Ethiopia.
Zeresenay Berhane Mehari is directing from a script by Laura Phillips, adapted from Camilla Gibb’s bestselling novel that explores an immigrant’s life from the unique perspective of being orphaned in Africa as a child, escaping to England as a refugee, embracing the immigrant community in London, and attempting to reunite people with their scattered families — while dealing with a passionate lost love affair with a doctor.
Other cast members include Wunmi Mosaku and Kunal Nayyar (“The Big Bang Theory”). The project was unveiled at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival with Saoirse Ronan initially attached.
Berhane Mehari’s first feature film, “Difret,” was executive produced by Angelina Jolie and won the audience awards at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and in the panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival.
Congratulations to Dakota on her new project, and we wish her the best of luck!
Dakota seems to be working on a new project! She was seen on the set of the movie Sweetness In The Belly in Dublin, Ireland, yesterday. We have no information about this so far, but we do know actress Saoirse Ronan had originally been cast as lead in this. Given she is currently filming Little Women in Boston, it’s possible Dakota has replaced her. We’ll keep an eye out for news related to it!
