Dakota’s Message for Tom Cruise’s Celebrating 25 Years in Film on The Oprah Winfrey Show was really lovely! Check the video on RedLasso. Dakota worked with Tom on War of the Words in 2005 and she said that when she arrived at the movie set for the first time she had one thing on her mind —when would she get to meet her famous co-star? “I was so excited to meet him that the backs of everybody’s head looked like Tom Cruise to me,” she says.  When she finally saw him, reality sunk in. “That was the moment I knew that I was in for a really great experience with a very special person. “When filming ended, Dakota says Tom still kept in touch. “I just want to thank you for staying in my life after we finished the movie and calling me to encourage or support me, and sometimes for no reason at all, just to say hello,” she says. “I think that’s what means the most to me, and I really appreciate all that you have done.” For more, make sure to check the video.

May 4, 2008:
Sarah found a cute encounter a guy had on the set of ‘The Secret Life of Bees’. His blog is here if you are interested, or you can read the article below.

The film is called the “Secret Lives of Bees” its is Produced by Will Smith and stars Alicia Keys, Paul Bethany, Hilarie Burton, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson (all those stars were already finished with the film) and Dakota Fanning (who was on set today) The first scene took place outside the local theater. Everyone was waiting inline to buy a ticket. Then it was a drive up pov shot. While between takes I was talking with Carl and Dan. And quite a few times Dakota stood next to me smiling and taking photos with young little girls. I said hello a few times. (Now yes I had a camera on hand just incase)

Someone walked by with a nice steady cam. I then said nice camera! We started to talk and I find out he has taken videos of the Fanning Family during films for there own personal collection. So that was kind of a neat thing ya know.

He and I walked over to the mob scene. And he got right in there and helped me get a photo with Dakota and she also singed a little something for me (most girls were giving her sheets of notebook paper - but not I! I gave her something much better! )

April 23, 2008:
Dakota has joined many other celebrities in designing and signing individual dinner plates, to be auctioned on Ebay as fundraising for the charity, Plates for Parkinson’s, in benefit of Parkinson Society Maritime Region. Parkinson’s disease is a moving disease of the nervous system that usually causes trembling of the hands and other symptoms and usually affects older people. Dakota’s plate will be up for auction on April 27, 2008 on Ebay. Check the charity site here. Thanks Dakota&ElleFan for the news!

According to Variety and other sources Dakota and Elle won't be part of My Sister's Keeper. Sofia Vassilieva (Medium) is near a deal to replace Dakota and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) will replace Elle. Sources said Dakota balked at a request that she shave her head for the role and both sisters withdrew abruptly. For more details, check the full article on Variety.

January 15, 2008:
The filming for The Secret Life of Bees has started last Sunday night in Lumberton. Dakota, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson were all at the N.C. 41 location at some point, as where Hilarie Burton, Paul Bettany and Tristian Wilds. To know more about the filming, read the article here.

January 9, 2008:
The casting director for My Sister’s Keeper, Matthew Barry, has revealed the director's plans to create believable family chemistry between his leads. Dakota and Elle (playing sisters Anna and Kate) will actually shack up with their on-screen mother, Cameron Diaz, for a month before filming begins. Says the casting director himself, "Nick [Cassavetes], our director, is making them actually live together for a month before they start the film, so they really can get to know each other." The news comes from a feature at the 'Backstage' website, where industry professionals are quizzed about their know-how (this week's topic: casting chemistry). My Sister's Keeper is reportedly scheduled to begin shooting March 3.
