Dakota has joined other celebrities in a campaign for alling for affordable, quality healthcare for all Americans in a new U.S. TV advertisement. Directed by actor/filmmaker Tony Goldwyn and featuring music by avant-garde composer Philip Glass, the public service announcement also features Reese Witherspoon, Ben Affleck, Joaquim Phoenix, Garth Brooks, Morgan Freeman, Eva Mendes and Jeremy Piven. The commercial asks viewers to log onto website DividedWeFail.org and join the organisation calling for its members to only vote for political candidates who endorse cheaper healthcare and lifetime financial security. To watch the video go here or here. You can also access Divided We Fail website to know how you can get involved. Screencaps were added in the gallery. We believe the dog in the video is Dakota's dog, Lewellen.

Unfortunately Dakota won't be taking part in The Women, a re-make film to which she was recently attached. The good news is that she does have two projects on the boil, including a strongly rumoured part in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones, based on the book of the same name by Alice Sebold, as well as a brand new project that would take Dakota all the way to Hong Kong for filming! Thanks to our great tipster for all the news.
April 28, 2007:
According to Fox News Dakota's next role will be in the upcoming film The Women. She would play Anjelica Huston's granddaughter, alongside a cast including Meg Ryan, Candice Bergen and Debra Messing. The Women is a re-make of a 1930s film about a group of "gossipy, high society women". At the moment, only Fox News is reporting this so it's not confirmed - we'll have to wait and see.

March 9, 2007:
In her new movie Winged Creatures, Dakota will be playing the character of Anne. Apparently the character's age was changed so that Dakota could play the part, as originally Anne was supposed to be a 16 or 17 year old girl! Rehearsals for this movie begin next week, and the movie should wrap by the middle of April. It's quite a low budget movie, but as we know, boasts an amazing ensemble cast.
March 9, 2007:
Dakota has been nominated for a Kid's Choice Award! You will be able to vote by visiting this link, at the Nickelodeon website, although Dakota's category hasn't been added for voting yet. Be sure to check back later and give her your support. Let's hope our girl can take home the goods this year! :)
February 16, 2007:
Dakota is apparently attached to a new film called Winged Creatures! Variety reports that "the movie is an adaptation of Roy Freirich's debut novel about survivors of a brutal restaurant murder who are left to divine their own individual paths to understanding their mortality and connection to society." Forest Whitaker, Kate Beckinsale and Guy Pearce have also been cast, and Rowan Woods (Little Fish) is attached to direct. Shooting will start very soon - next month in fact, beginning March 19. Congratulations Dakota!
February 10, 2007:

February 8, 2007:
Remember the movie Conquistadora? Dakota was attached to it several years ago, playing a disabled twin girl, but eventually her involvement with the project broke off. Hold tight because the movie is now back until a new name - Hurricane Mary - and a new cast member - Dakota's real life younger sister, Elle, playing her twin! The story is still the same - Dakota and Elle's characters have cerebral palsy and are wheelchair bound, but are also "gifted" - and the story revolves around their mother's fight to enroll them in a normal public school. Production will begin on this movie in September, in New York. Congratulations Dakota!
February 6, 2007:
Dakota is nominated for favorite female movie star on the Nickelodeon's 20th annual Kids' Choice Awards. The other nominees are Halle Berry, Keira Knightley and Sarah Jessica Parker. The show will be on March 31 at the University of California, Los Angeles. Online vote will begin in March 5.
January 25, 2007:
Hounddog has been dogged by controversy from the get go, but this week Dakota finally spoke out against the critics of her film - especially those who haven't seen the movie they're criticizing. They "were attacking my family and me, and that's where it got too far," she says. "Pretty much everybody who talked about it attacked my mother, which I did not appreciate. That was extremely uncalled for and hurtful." Rumours of criminal negligence on behalf of the filmmakers or Dakota's parents were put the rest when the movie premiered this week (all had already been cleared legally). The controversial rape scene was shown to be less than 1 minute long, showing close-ups of Dakota's face that were filmed without any other actor near her. She insists that the movie was not disturbing to film. "I loved the Elvis Presley story line. I loved the fact she's born of hard circumstances and is trying to survive those," she says. "I like so many things about it that had nothing to do with being abused, or sexually abused."
January 12, 2007:
Dakota attended the 12th Annual Critics Choice Awards last night, where she was nominated for 'Best Young Actress'. Unfortunately our girl missed out on the award (it went to Abigail Breslin of Little Miss Sunshine) but Charlotte's Web did win 'Best Family Film' in its category!
