Charlotte's Web has had its US release date changed to December 15. The date was previously set at December 20. Dakota is one of the celebrity "star-makers" to create a unique Christmas ornament that will be auctioned off in support of the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. If your pocket is deep enough, be sure to check out the auction of Dakota's star - it's all for a good cause :) The auction ends November 15.

July 24, 2006:
Dakota's part in 'Hounddog' has been confirmed amidst a whirlwind of media attention over the controversial film. The movie has been described in press reports as a "dark story of abuse, violence and Elvis Presley adulation in the rural South". Dakota stars as Llewelyn. The movie also features Robin Wright Penn, David Morse and Piper Laurie and was written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier. According to some sources, filming on the project was briefly interrupted due to lack of funding by investors, who cited the film's controversial subject matter, including one already-filmed scene in which Fanning's character is raped. There's been a lot of discussion already over the rape scene, but since no one has seen the footage in question, it's much too early for alarm over Dakota's part. Let's wait to hear the whole story before judging.

April 25, 2006:
The nominees for this year's MTV Movie Awards were announced yesterday and "War of the Worlds" received a single nod for Dakota Fanning in the "Best Frightened Performance" category. Fanning's terror-filled performance as Rachel Ferrier is certainly fraught with peril, and Fanning pulled off portraying her character's abject fear in spades. Other nominees in the "Best Frightened Performance" category include Rachel Nichols as a terrorized babysitter in "The Amityville Horror" remake, Jennifer Carpenter as a demonically possessed college student in "The Exorcism of Emily Rose," Derek Richardson as a victim of a sadistic European in "Hostel," and a half-nekkid Paris Hilton as someone who can't act in "House of Wax." The 2006 MTV Movie Awards will premiere on MTV on June 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
