DREAMING WITH DAKOTA
from Tiger Beat Magazine, September 2005
Dakota Fanning sat down with Tiger Beat for an exclusive Q&A about her life and new movie Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story.
Great to meet you, Dakota! Tell us about your new movie, Dreamer.
I play a girl named Cale who takes care of an injured racehorse named Sonya. Her father helps her train Sonya to compete in the Breeders' Cup.
This was your first time working with horses. Were you nervous?
I couldn't wait to work with the horses. It wasn't scary; I had lots of great teachers who made me feel really comfortable. I spent about 10 weeks riding horses.
You must have gotten close to the horse afterward. Do you want one of your own?
I have one! Kurt Russell, who plays my father in the movie, gave me a horse! I see him every weekend and sometimes during the week. I give him maple cookies, carrots and apples. He's very pampered.
The movie is about dreaming big. What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be an actresss and try to better myself with every movie that I do. When I watch my first movie (I Am Sam) I realize how much I've learned since then and how fortunate I am to do what I love to do.
When you're not making a movie, what do you do for fun?
I play the piano and I knit. Knitting is making a comeback. Ha-ha! And I love to swim!
Cool! Thanks Dakota.
