DAKOTA FANNING IS SO WELL-MANNERED AND WELL-SPOKEN THAT IT MIGHT BE EASY TO FORGET THAT SHE'S ONLY 9 YEARS OLD

LOS ANGELES - Dakota Fanning is so well-mannered and well-spoken that it might be easy to forget that she's only 9 years old.
But the co-star of the new movie "Uptown Girls" says she plays with her dolls, shares a room with her kid sister and hangs around with her friends just like an ordinary kid.
In "Uptown Girls," which opens Friday, Fanning plays Ray, a precocious child who talks and acts well beyond her years because of a lack of attention from her executive mother (Heather Locklear). Brittany Murphy plays Molly, Ray's new nanny.
Fanning says she is like her character in an important way: She's well-organized and something of a neat freak.
"Me and my sister share a room, and my sister is like Molly, and I'm like Ray," she said. "Because my side of the room is like perfect, and everything's is in a basket all arranged perfectly, and then her room - she's 5 - her side of the room, it's like there's Care Bears everywhere. There's stuffed animals all over her bed."
